FORMER FOOD SERVICE WORKER SUING UND

SHE CONTENDS SHE WAS SUBJECTED TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT

A Crookston woman is suing UND, contending she was subjected to sexual harassment while employed at UND as a food service worker. Peggy Inocencio, who is representing herself in the case, filed the suit on June 12 in U.S. District Court in Fargo. In her complaint, Inocencio states that UND employees sexually harassed and assaulted her throughout her employment - from Nov. 4, 1996, until December 1996. She contends that the treatment she received violated the North Dakota Human Rights Act as well as the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964. She further contends in her complaint that UND was aware of the actions by employees and that despite her repeated complaints, it took no disciplinary action. Inocencio is asking for a sum in excess of $75,000 as well as punitive damages. Efforts to obtain comment Tuesday from UND's Office of General Counsel were unsuccessful.
