The coordinator at UND's Era Bell Thompson Cultural Center has been suspended, with pay, while the student affairs office conducts an investigation.

Dean of Students Lillian Elsinga said Thursday she had put Toni Scott "on leave" after receiving a student complaint. She said her investigation would be completed soon, and she would give no details at this point.

Scott, who had been on leave since Feb 1, said, "I haven't received anything in writing." She said she wouldn't comment until after the university had done "a thorough investigation."

Since the summer of 1991, Scott has been coordinator of African, Asian- and Hispanic-American student services. Her leave status is indefinite, Elsinga said.

Scott is the second UND professional to be suspended with pay this month.

Earlier this week Gary Farris, director of Indians into Medicine was put on "temporary administrative absence" by the medical school while an audit investigation of his program funds is carried out.
