DeMers Not to Seek Re-Election For State Senate

Former state Sen. Judy DeMers has decided not to run for the District 43 seat being vacated by Republican Rod St. Aubyn. DeMers, a Democrat, spent 18 years in the North Dakota Legislature representing District 18. She gave up her seat when she moved out of that district and into District 43.

In a statement released Tuesday, DeMers said: "St. Aubyn's resignation created an opportunity that was unexpected and somewhat attractive to me. After careful thought, however, my decision reverted to the one I made a year ago."

DeMers was forced to give up her seat when she moved out of her political district. Informed sources says DeMers decided not to run for personal reasons.
