Students involved in threats can go back to school

ASHLEY, N.D. --Two junior high school students who were suspended this week for threatening to shoot certain classmates have been cleared to return to school Monday, authorities said.

"If we thought for one minute there was a threat to any of the students, we wouldn't send them back into the school system," said Ashley Police Chief Chad Madsen.

Madsen said investigators found "ample" evidence to believe that the two students had a conversation about shooting certain classmates, and that the conversation was overheard by other students.

But McIntosh County State's Attorney Terry Elhard said there was no physical evidence to build a criminal case.
